OLI-AQUA EASY MIX | Base stain

APPLICATION

SURFACE PREPARATION:

• The surface must be dry, thoroughly cleaned, and free of oil, wax, grease, silicone, and sanding dust.
• Sand the wood progressively using grit 150 / 180. The finer the sanding, the less the wood can become rough.

APPLICATION:

Spray application without wiping:

• Preferably used on fine-pored hardwoods such as beech, maple, and cherry, or absorbent softwoods such as pine and spruce.
• Spray evenly until damp - not wet - using a cup spray gun (1.2 - 1.5 mm nozzle, approx. 2 bar spraying pressure), applying crosswise. Do not wipe off the excess. Applying several thin coats produces a particularly even staining effect.

Spray application with wiping:

• Preferably used on coarse-pored hardwoods and softwoods such as oak, ash, maple, and mahogany.
• Apply one generous coat using a cup spray gun (1.5 - 2.0 mm nozzle, approx. 2 bar spraying pressure).
• Allow the excess stain to work for 1-2 minutes, then wipe it off with a wide stain wiper, first across and then along the wood grain. Wipe the brush regularly on a cloth to remove the absorbed excess stain. This produces a rustic staining effect.

Brush application with wiping:

• Apply the stain evenly, generously, and quickly from one edge to the other using a flat staining brush, first along, then across, and once again along the wood grain.
• Allow the excess stain to work for 1 – 2 minutes, then spread it along the wood grain using a wide stain wiper.
• Wipe the brush regularly on a cloth to remove the absorbed excess stain.

Drying times:

• Recoatable: 5-6 hrs.

RECOMMENDED SYSTEM:

• Wooden surfaces treated with OLI-AQUA BEIZE EASY MIX can be recoated after 5-6 hours with all OLI-AQUA water-based coatings and OLI-CRYL solvent-based coatings.
• OLI-AQUA water-based coatings should preferably be sprayed rather than applied by roller or brush, as water-based stains may otherwise become reactivated and cause the color to smear.
