Colors and protects with just one oil application - now in 12 new designer shades.
With or without hardener, this emissions-tested high-solid color oil brings current color inspiration from architecture, interiors and craftsmanship to wooden floors, furniture and stairs. Naturally beautiful, healthy for indoor living and efficient to apply.
The transparent color palette with UV-resistant pigments can be mixed with one another. The shades Signal White and Light Ivory, with their calm, Scandinavian-inspired appearance, are ideal for light woods such as oak, ash, maple, birch or spruce. Anyone who wants to showcase oak creatively can combine the HS Professional Oil with the reactive stain OLI-NATURA Antique.
The long open time offers plenty of scope for polishing, a real advantage especially on larger surfaces. The low viscosity ensures pleasantly easy handling, while the fast curing time is impressive even without hardener. In combination with OLI-NATURA Hardener (mixing ratio 10:1), the curing time is significantly reduced and the surface's resistance increases.
The certified quality is emissions-tested, DIBt-certified and TRGS-compliant - ideal for professional indoor use.

Using Colour HS Professional Oil: Colouring and oiling furniture, worktops, stairs and floors
Preparation: The wood must be clean, dry and absorbent. Remove old film-forming coatings. Do not sand floors and stairs finer than P100–120, or furniture and worktops finer than P180. Sand evenly and remove dust thoroughly. If necessary, pre-treat with diluted OLI NATURA® PreOilCleaner Allow to dry completely before oiling, smooth raised wood fibres if necessary and remove dust again. Do not use PreOilCleaner before OLI NATURA® Antique.
Tip: Apply a test coat to similarly prepared wood and assess the colour effect after drying. The type of wood, its natural colour and the sanding affect the colour tone.
Optional with hardener: Mix 10 parts oil with 1 part OLI NATURA® Hardener thoroughly and use immediately. The hardener improves pigment bonding and accelerates curing. Pot life for coloured variants: approx. 1–2 hours. Only mix the required quantity.
Furniture, stairs and worktops: Stir the oil thoroughly before and during application so that the pigments remain evenly distributed. Apply thinly and evenly and work in with a beige pad. Allow to penetrate for approx. 30–60 minutes. Re-oil quickly absorbing areas if necessary. Remove excess and polish with a white pad until the surface feels dry to the touch.
Floors: Work in sections of 10–15 m². Apply the oil thinly and evenly with a short-pile roller or squeegee and work it in with a beige pad within 30–60 minutes. Re-oil quickly absorbing areas if necessary. Remove excess and polish with a white pad until the surface feels dry to the touch. Do not leave any excess oil on the surface.
Coverage: One coat; approx. 20–40 ml/m² (25–50 m²/l), depending on the type of wood, sanding and absorbency.
Drying: Dust-dry after approx. 1–2 hours, cautiously walkable after approx. 24 hours and fully cured after approx. 5–7 days. With hardener, the surface cures faster. Protect from water and heavy use until fully cured and do not clean with a damp cloth.
Application conditions: The material, wood and surroundings must be between +15 and +25 °C during application. Ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying.
Safety – risk of spontaneous combustion: After use, soak oil-soaked cloths and pads completely in water and then spread them out to dry outdoors. Avoid heat build-up.
Further information: Before application, consult the technical data sheet in the “Downloads” section.
Oiled wood surfaces retain their natural charm through regular cleaning and care. Dust and light dirt can be removed with a dry or slightly damp cloth - never wipe with a wet cloth! Parquet should ideally be vacuumed or swept daily, as sand can cause fine scratches.
OLI-NATURA wood soap cleans gently without damaging the wood. For refreshing the surface, use OLI-NATURA maintenance oil or - for light shades - OLI-NATURA Refresher. Alternatively, the colored HS Professional Oil can be mixed in a 1:2 ratio with OLI-NATURA Oil Thinner and used as a pigmented maintenance oil.
Care intervals depend on use and wear. If the surface becomes dull or repels water less effectively, it is time for re-oiling
The product is not subject to labeling requirements. The mixture is not classified as hazardous within the meaning of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. It does not need to be labeled with GHS hazard pictograms or signal words and is not classified as dangerous goods.
Safety instructions
Oil-soaked rags/pads can self-ignite due to heat accumulation! Therefore, clean them immediately after use or store them under water. Keep out of reach of children.

Is the color effect the same on all types of wood?
No. How a color oil looks depends largely on the wood’s natural base tone and the sanding. The same color shade may look different on oak than on light pine or spruce. The coarser the sanding, the more intense the color effect may be. Therefore, test the color shade in advance on the original wood with the intended sanding.
Why don't you offer a color fan for HS Professional Oil COLOUR?
A color fan shows how a color shade looks on the wood used for the fan - it may look different on your wood. The wood species, natural color, and sanding all affect the result. That is why we offer samplers: You can test the color shade directly on your wood with the intended sanding.
Which color shade creates the lightest possible wood look?
Light Ivory comes closest among the HS Professional Oil COLOUR shades to a light, minimally enhanced look. For a more pronounced raw wood effect, OLI NATURA® Scandic-Oil CLASSIC or hardwax oil Cotton White are suitable. Test the color effect in advance on the original wood.
Does pigmented oil protect against darkening?
The pigments can slow light-induced color changes in the wood. They cannot completely prevent the natural darkening process.
Can I mix different color shades?
Yes. The color shades of HS Professional Oil COLOUR can be mixed with one another. The color effect can be toned down by mixing with pigment-free HS Professional Oil NATUR from the same product range. Mix enough material for the entire surface and test the result in advance on the original wood.
Can I use HS Professional Oil COLOUR on lacquered or previously oiled wood?
Film-forming old coatings must be completely removed so that the oil can penetrate the wood. Check previously oiled surfaces for compatibility and sufficient absorbency. If necessary, sand down to the raw wood.
How do I prepare the wood?
The surface must be dry, clean, evenly sanded, and thoroughly dust-free. For furniture, OLI NATURA® recommends final sanding up to a maximum of P180; for stairs and floors, P120. Pigments can clearly highlight sanding defects.
Do I need to stir the oil before and during application?
Yes. Pigments can settle. Stir or shake the oil thoroughly before use and stir it again during prolonged application. Mix the contents of containers from different batches in advance to prevent color differences.
Is one coat of HS Professional Oil COLOUR sufficient?
Yes. When applied correctly, one coat is sufficient for the initial treatment. The key is to saturate the wood evenly and polish out all excess oil completely. If necessary, the surface can be repolished the following day with a small amount of oil and a white pad.
How do I remove excess oil without removing the color again?
Work the oil evenly into the wood. Then polish away the excess with a white pad until the surface looks even and feels dry to the touch. Remove larger amounts of oil beforehand.
What should I do if I have applied significantly too much oil and it is still wet?
If there is a lot of oil on the surface after the application time, remove the excess sharply with a foam rubber squeegee before polishing. Then polish with a white pad until no excess oil is visible and the surface feels dry to the touch.
How do I remove excess oil that has already dried?
Carefully treat the excess oil with a green, mildly abrasive pad and thoroughly remove the loosened residue. If the oil has already fully cured, sanding may be necessary. Then check the color effect. If further treatment is necessary, apply HS Professional Oil COLOUR thinly in the original color shade and polish it out completely. Test the procedure beforehand in an inconspicuous area.
What do I need to bear in mind with oil-soaked cloths and pads?
They can self-ignite due to heat accumulation. After use, soak them completely in water and then leave them to dry spread out outdoors. Avoid heat accumulation.
Can I use HS Professional Oil with hardener?
Yes. Mix 10 parts oil with 1 part OLI NATURA® Hardener thoroughly and use immediately. The hardener accelerates curing and increases resistance; with COLOUR, it also improves pigment binding. The pot life for colored variants is approximately 2 hours.
When can I walk on an oiled floor again?
Without hardener, the surface can be walked on carefully after approximately 24 hours and is fully cured after approximately 5–7 days. With hardener, it cures faster. Protect the surface from water and heavy use until it is fully cured.
When can I clean the surface with a damp cloth?
Only after it has fully cured. After that, you can clean the surface with OLI NATURA® wood soap using a slightly damp cloth if needed.
Why does the oiled surface look blotchy or streaky?
Possible causes include uneven sanding, differences in the wood's absorption, pigments that have not been stirred sufficiently, or residual excess oil. Ensure even sanding, stir the oil thoroughly, and polish the surface carefully.
Can I subsequently even out a blotchy oiled surface?
As long as excess oil is still on the surface, careful buffing can help. After curing, the correction depends on the cause. If the color has penetrated the wood unevenly, another uniform sanding may be necessary. First test the procedure in an inconspicuous area.
How do I care for a color-oiled surface?
OLI NATURA® wood soap is suitable for regular cleaning. OLI NATURA® wood refresher can be used for a color-neutral refresh. If you also want to refresh the color, use the color originally applied.
When should the surface be refreshed?
When the protective effect diminishes, not according to a fixed schedule. Clean the surface beforehand and let it dry completely. Then choose whether you only want to maintain the oil protection or also add color.
Can I refresh a color-oiled surface with the same color?
Yes. Clean the surface and let it dry completely. Use the color originally applied from HS Professional Oil COLOUR. For a more fluid, pigmented maintenance oil, you can mix two parts OLI NATURA® oil thinner with one part colored HS Professional Oil. Apply the mixture thinly and remove all excess. Test the color effect beforehand in an inconspicuous area.
Can I re-oil only worn areas with color?
Yes, localized touch-ups are possible. Clean the area and use the color originally applied. If the area has been sanded, the freshly sanded wood may absorb more pigment and initially look different from the surrounding area. Test the touch-up beforehand. If a noticeable color difference remains visible, treating the entire connected surface may be necessary.
Do I need to sand before re-oiling?
Not necessarily. When refreshing an intact, oiled surface, thorough cleaning should come first. Sanding may be necessary for damage, stains, or disturbing maintenance product residues. The condition of the surface is decisive.
Can I apply a different, darker color to a color-oiled surface?
This is only possible to a limited extent. Wood that has already been oiled absorbs less oil and pigment. The new color will combine with the existing color and may turn out uneven. Test the result on the existing surface. For a targeted, even color change, sand down to the bare wood and re-oil.
Can I lighten a dark-oiled surface with a lighter color oil?
Generally not by simply applying another coat of oil. The dark color remains visible; light pigments may appear patchy. To achieve a lighter color, the existing finish must be sanded down to the bare wood. Then create a test area.
