OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax for Wood: Traditional Wax Care, Reimagined for Today
A classic from our Heritage Collection, reimagined. For generations, natural waxes have preserved the beauty of valuable furniture and antiques. »OLI NATURA Furniture Wax« continues this tradition in a contemporary way with beeswax and carnauba wax. The solvent-free hard wax gives wood a velvety feel and protects it with a fine, water-repellent wax layer. Applied thinly and polished after drying, it develops a soft to silky sheen.
Which wood surfaces is OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax suitable for?
The colorless, unpigmented wood wax is suitable for the initial treatment of raw wood surfaces and for caring for oiled, stained, or waxed wood surfaces indoors. It enhances furniture, antiques, picture frames, wood moldings, carvings, and turned woodwork. Its mild odor also makes it suitable for the insides of cabinets and drawers.
Other applications include surfaces decorated with chalk paint, wooden toys, cutting boards, wooden spoons, and other wooden kitchen utensils. For unknown wood species or previous treatments, first test on a small area.
How does OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax affect wood?
Unlike wood oil, which penetrates the wood and protects it from within, furniture wax works close to the surface and alters the natural color less. The grain and texture remain visible, while polishing gives the surface a subtle sheen. Regular rewaxing supports the development of an even, distinctive patina.
How is OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax applied?
Apply the wax to clean, dry wood. If the consistency is too firm, the closed container can be carefully warmed on a lukewarm radiator. Using a soft cotton cloth, spread sparingly, thinly, and evenly in circular motions.
Allow to dry until the surface is touch-dry. Then polish with a fresh cotton cloth or a white polishing pad. The more intensively it is polished, the silkier the sheen. For raw or highly absorbent wood, a second thin coat may be advisable after drying.
Tip: A clean, discarded, lint-free cotton jersey shirt is also ideal for polishing.
What makes the formulation of OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax special?
Purified beeswax cares for the wood surface, while hard carnauba wax gives the fine wax film strength. The formulation contains no added colorants or fragrances and is free from terpenes - including terpene-containing citrus oils such as orange peel oil -, silicones, and VOCs.
Cloths soaked with the wood wax are not prone to spontaneous combustion.
- Silicone-free
- VOC-free
- Complies with DIN EN 71-3 - Safety of toys
- Complies with DIN 53160 - Resistant to saliva and perspiration
- Suitable for contact with food after complete curing
How is OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax applied correctly?
The wood surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust and grease. When treating raw wood for the first time, it should be sanded finely and evenly if necessary. Then remove the sanding dust thoroughly.
To care for furniture that has already been oiled or waxed, clean the surface carefully and remove any loose residue. For unknown types of wood or previous treatments, testing on an inconspicuous area is recommended.
Less is more. Spread the furniture wax thinly in circular motions using a soft cotton cloth or application pad.
Solid furniture wax is easier to apply in a warm room. If it is too firm, warm it carefully with a hair dryer or place it briefly on a lukewarm radiator. This makes the wax more pliable and easier to dose.
Allow the furniture wax to dry until the surface is dry to the touch. Then remove excess wax with a fresh cotton cloth. Finally, polish the surface thoroughly with a clean cloth or a white polishing pad.
How long does OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax take to dry?
- Before polishing: Allow to dry for 20–30 min. until the surface is dry to the touch. For new wood, leave overnight
- Further application: after approx. 16–24 hours
- Final hardness: after several days
Applying too much product, low temperatures, or high humidity will extend the drying time. Until the final hardness is reached, protect the surface from water, do not clean it with a damp cloth, and use it only gently.
When is a second application advisable?
New, raw, or highly absorbent wood may require a second thin coat of wax. Dry or furniture that has not been maintained for a long time also benefits from an additional coat of wax. Each coat must dry sufficiently before the next application.
What is the coverage?
Coverage: 125 ml covers up to 3 m² per application, depending on the substrate. For care, a thin coat is usually sufficient. Consumption varies depending on the type of wood, sanding, absorbency, and amount applied.
How should waxed furniture be cleaned properly?
Remove dust with a soft, dry cloth. Wipe off adhering dirt with a well-wrung, slightly damp cloth. Do not clean the surface with excessive water. Wipe up spilled liquids immediately and dry damp areas afterward.
Do not soak treated cutting boards and kitchen utensils in water or clean them in the dishwasher.
When should the wooden surface be rewaxed?
There is no fixed schedule for rewaxing. What matters is how the piece of furniture is used and how much wear it undergoes. Heavily used surfaces usually require more frequent care than decorative furniture.
Care is needed when the wood looks dry or dull. A rough feel or reduced water repellency can also be signs. If water no longer beads up as clearly, the surface should be refreshed.
Does it always need to be rewaxed immediately?
Not necessarily. It is often sufficient to first repolish the clean, dry surface with a cotton cloth or white polishing pad. This refreshes the existing finish without applying new furniture wax.
If the surface remains dry or dull, a thin coat of care product is recommended. Heavily used areas can be rewaxed selectively.
How should waxed furniture be refreshed?
Thoroughly clean the wooden surface and allow it to dry completely. Then apply OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax sparingly and polish it as described in the application instructions. For regular furniture care, a thin coat is usually sufficient.
Rewaxing as needed preserves the surface and supports the development of a natural patina.

What is the difference between your furniture wax and hardwax oil?
Hardwax oil combines two protective principles: oil and wax. The oil penetrates the wood and protects it from within, while the wax forms a fine protective film on the surface. This makes hardwax oil more resistant protection for surfaces subject to heavier use. Furniture wax primarily nourishes and enhances the surface.
What is the difference between oils and waxes?
Wood oil penetrates deeper, protects from within and usually intensifies the color. Wax enhances the surface and has less effect on the wood color.
Does raw wood need to be oiled before waxing?
No. Raw wood can be waxed directly. Depending on the product, a prior oil treatment intensifies the color and increases the base protection. Allow the oil to cure completely before waxing.
Which wood surfaces is furniture wax suitable for?
OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax is suitable for raw, oiled, stained and previously waxed wood indoors, as well as surfaces finished with chalk paint. If the previous treatment is unknown, first test it on a small area.
Is furniture wax suitable for surfaces subject to heavy use?
The wax is suitable for furniture and wooden objects subject to normal use. For heavy use or frequent contact with water, wood oil or hardwax oil provides more resistant protection.
Can I wax my oiled cutting board with it?
Yes. Allow the oil to cure completely, apply the wax thinly and polish it thoroughly. Once cured, the surface is suitable for contact with food.
How long must the wax sit before polishing?
About 20–30 minutes, until the surface is dry to the touch. For raw or highly absorbent wood, allow it to sit overnight if necessary.
Does furniture wax need to be polished?
Yes. Polishing removes excess wax and creates an even finish. The more intensely you polish, the more pronounced the silky sheen.
Why does the surface remain sticky or greasy?
Usually, too much wax was applied or it was not polished thoroughly enough. Remove excess wax with a clean cotton cloth and polish again.
Is a waxed wood surface waterproof?
No. The wax film repels water but does not make the wood waterproof. Wipe up liquids promptly. The product is not suitable for permanently damp areas.
Can I use it to protect my garden furniture?
No. OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax is intended for indoor use. For outdoor use, we recommend OLI NATURA® Yacht & Teak Oil.
Are wax-soaked cloths prone to spontaneous combustion?
No. Cloths soaked with OLI NATURA® Furniture Wax are not prone to spontaneous combustion.
