OLI-NATURA Colour hardwax oil - Light White
Oiling light-coloured wooden furniture white is not only an aesthetic improvement, but also offers practical benefits, such as reducing the wood's natural darkening over time. In this article, we reveal which types of wood particularly benefit from the white-pigmented OLI-NATURA Colour hardwax oil in Light White, how best to proceed and which details you should pay particular attention to. Step by step, we guide you through the process, explain the best techniques and provide valuable tips.

Preserving light-coloured wooden furniture with white UV-protection oil

A simple, timeless interior style brings lightness and brightness into your home and creates a natural, inviting atmosphere. Furniture made of light-coloured wood such as pine, fir or spruce is a perfect match. However, wood changes colour over time: dark wood becomes lighter, while light wood darkens. The best way to keep light-coloured wooden furniture light is with OLI-NATURA Colour hardwax oil in Light White. This oil-wax combination contains mineral white pigments with a UV filter that act like sunscreen and significantly reduce the wood's darkening over time.

Choosing the right wood for the best colour effect

Of course, there are many other light-coloured types of wood that harmonise wonderfully with the Colour hardwax oil in Light White. In addition to pine, fir, spruce and larch, these include maple, birch, ash and light oak. The oil's white colour is transparent and gives the wood a gentle tint, so the natural grain and structure remain visible. The exact shade depends on the wood's base tone. Applying a test coat to a concealed area can provide clarity.

Factors influencing colour intensity when oiling

The colour effect of the oil depends not only on the type of wood, but also on the final sanding and the amount of oil applied. Applying a second coat of oil, wetting the wood beforehand or using a coarser sanding grit can intensify the colour. In general, the final sanding should not be finer than 240 grit, as sanding too finely compacts the wood pores, allowing hardly any pigments to penetrate.

White pigmented oil apply correctly

Applying OLI-NATURA Colour Hardwax Oil in Light White is easy. The wood should be untreated or freshly sanded. Apply the oil with a brush or pad and polish off the excess oil after a short application time. Excess oil must not remain on the surface. Leave the freshly oiled surface undisturbed for at least one day so that the oil can penetrate the pores and the color pigments can become anchored. A second coat can be applied after 24 hours at the earliest. A common mistake is applying the oil twice in direct succession without waiting for the necessary intermediate drying time. In this case, the wood pores cannot absorb the oil quickly enough; it remains on the surface and must be removed again to prevent stickiness. Therefore: Two coats with the appropriate drying time between them produce the best result.

Importance of the curing time

While the colored wood oil quickly shows what the final result will look like, it takes a few more days for the oil to cure completely. Even if the furniture already feels dry on the surface, the oil inside the wood needs about 3-5 days to cure properly. Good ventilation is very helpful, as this process requires oxygen. During this time, you should protect the freshly oiled surface: Avoid contact with water and refrain from cleaning with a damp cloth. This ensures that your furniture can cure perfectly.

Caring for and cleaning light oiled wood

The lighter the wood, the more susceptible to stains? Not necessarily! What matters is that the freshly oiled furniture has fully cured first. After that, the surfaces can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth and refreshed at any time by re-oiling. Stains and fine scratches can be repaired by sanding and subsequent treatment with the appropriate care product, without having to sand down the entire piece of furniture.

Protection and aesthetics through professional oil treatment

As the oil penetrates deep into the wood, the wax forms a thin surface film that is robust, water-repellent, and dirt-repellent. The wood can breathe – and especially with light-colored wood, the natural structure and character of this natural material truly come into its own. Polishing the wet oil with a white polishing pad gives the wood a pleasant, satin-matte, natural finish. The wood remains open-pore, looks great, and retains its natural feel.

Step by step:

Process the oil at room temperature and stir thoroughly to ensure even distribution of the pigments.

Pour the required amount into a glass or plastic bowl, or pour it directly onto the surface.

Apply the oil in the direction of the grain and let it penetrate for approximately 15-20 minutes.

Then even out and polish the wet color oil with a white polishing pad.

If excess oil remains and cannot be polished off with the white pad, remove it with a cloth.

The surface should then feel dry to the touch.

If necessary, repeat the process after 24 hours at the earliest

Allow the freshly oiled surface to cure completely for a few days. During this time, handle it gently and avoid contact with water. It will then be water- and dirt-repellent.
